The balloon was launched on September 3, 2003 at 17:37 jst from the Sanriku Balloon Center. 5 hours 53 minutes later the balloon reached an altitude of 43 km while floating 110 km east of the launch base. At that moment it started to advance to the west. Flight ended next day at 1:00 jst when payload was separated from the balloon. On the early morning of September 4 both elements were rescued from the sea by the recovery ship.
