HARD X-RAY SPECTROMETER

The instrument uses sixteen cadmium telluride (CdTe) detectors with iridium electrodes that act as Schottky barriers. Although the instrument operated properly, the instrument power supply failed at 9:45 JST. The instrument was successfully recovered. The cause of the fault was determined to be inadequate battery supply leading to excessive heating due to the high current draw, triggering the thermal fuse.
